Did you know TLG sponsors two students for internships at the U.S. Department of State each year? For the July spotlight, we're excited to introduce Jasmine McClam, a 2019 TLG and American Foreign Service Association intern working in the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA). Jasmine is a rising senior and International Studies and Spanish double major at Spelman College. Originally from Houston, Texas, Jasmine is particularly passionate about intercultural exchange, having had opportunities to travel to seven countries in the past three years. At Spelman, she serves as a campus ambassador and is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated. In addition, she has volunteered with multiple political campaigns and non-profit organizations in Atlanta. Jasmine sought an internship at the U.S. Department of State due to her interest in public diplomacy. In ECA, she enjoys meeting diverse students and learning more about the importance of cross-cultural exchanges in fostering peaceful international relations. Jasmine aspires to gain a master’s degree in public policy upon graduation from Spelman in 2020 and aims to pursue a career in public service.
