Most recently, he served as Chief Political Officer at the United States Embassy in Havana, Cuba where he played an active role in the negotiations to re-establish diplomatic relations with Cuba after more than 55 years. He also worked to define new areas to encourage an improved U.S.-Cuba relationship. Justin holds a M.A. in Public Policy from Georgetown University and a B.A. in Government from Cornell University. He has received several awards for his work with the State Department, including two individual Superior Honor Awards and an individual Meritorious Honor Award. "Meeting new people, learning new languages and cultures, and discovering a new place are the most interesting things about being a diplomat," Justin said. "This career takes your life off of auto-pilot, forces you to consider aspects of it that would normally be mundane. Everything from transportation to grocery shopping is transformed into an adventure. I’ve got some amazing stories that I’ll never forget."
