TLG is proud to spotlight Navarro Moore, a political-coned Foreign Service Officer at the U.S. Department of State. Navarro currently serves as the Acting Deputy Director and Senior Kenya Desk Officer in the Office of East African Affairs. Previously, he worked as a Consular Officer and Staff Assistant in El Salvador, Political Officer in Australia, Deputy Political Chief in Ghana, and Special Assistant in the Bureau of African Affairs in Washington D.C. Navarro notes that his most rewarding career experience so far was his role in helping Ethiopia and Eritrea re-establish diplomatic relations by participating in meetings with the former Acting Assistant Secretary for the Bureau of African Affairs, Ethiopia's Prime Minister, and Eritrea's President in April 2018.
Prior to joining the Foreign Service, Navarro was awarded the Pickering Fellowship and interned with the State Department in Washington, D.C., Thailand, and Fiji. Navarro holds an M.A. in International Affairs from Florida State University and a B.A. in Political Science from Valdosta State University. He has received several awards for his work, was featured in the Washington Post, and on the Department’s website. Navarro is a member of The Pickering & Rangel Fellows Association (PRFA), Thursday Luncheon Group, and the Valdosta State University Alumni Association Board. He enjoys practicing Spanish, playing basketball and golf, reading social psychology books, and mentoring. He resides in the Washington D.C. area with his wife and three children.
